The
makers of French toys in the late nineteenth century often went
to great lengths to outdo each other. Toys, including dolls, became
miniature works of art. Highly collectible today, these toys tell
the story of lavish nurseries and their pampered occupants. Wendy
Lawton recreates this era in an unforgettable treasure made exclusively
for Toy Village.
Monette,
an excuisite nine-inch doll with a porcelain head and hands on
a spring-jointed, hand-carved wooden body is an original sculpt
by Wendy Lawton. She has sparkling light blue eyes and a strawberry
blond hand-rooted human hair wig. She comes in a traditional mal
du voyage trunk of embossed lincrusta with leather trim.
